Be Part of Something Brilliant, Volunteer at the Worcester Show!

The Worcester Show simply wouldn’t happen without the energy, enthusiasm and community spirit of our incredible volunteers.

Whether you’re helping behind the scenes with site build, supporting judges in the Competition Marquee, capturing the magic as a photographer, cheering on teams in the Village Games, or keeping the Main Stage running smoothly, there’s a role for everyone. From creative décor-making and sustainability champions to show runners and stewards on the big weekend, every volunteer plays a vital part in bringing the Show to life.

Join a friendly team, learn new skills, meet fantastic people, and be at the heart of one of Worcester’s most loved community events. However you choose to get involved, you’ll be making a real difference, and having a great time doing it!

General Information

Volunteers will be provided with drinks, snacks and regular breaks
Roles requiring someone in post for the whole day will be broken into shifts and lunch provided
All volunteers will be expected to meet the volunteer coordinator for a brief site orientation, and general introduction before they undertake their role.

Volunteer Task Groups

Join one of the established task groups of the Worcester Show Team to contribute towards planning and delivery of a task area:

Task Group Name	Tasks
Main Stage	Work with event partners to support smooth running of stage, including running for bands, moving equipment, and general support where required.
Sports Zone	Help with delivery of the Sports Zone on Show Day.
Competition Marquee	Competition admin, judges helpers, marquee reception and assistants.
Site Build Team	Physical work, moving equipment, building site infrastructure etc
Community Marquee	General marquee support including delivery of the World Café.
The Village Games	To plan and deliver the Village Games, including practical support on the day.
Craft Group	Join this group to help create décor for the Show and have a laugh! All skill levels welcome.
Environment, Sustainability & Active Travel	This task group aims to reduce travel to the Show by vehicle, and ensure the Show is sustainable and not detrimental to the environment.

From 1 August

Volunteer Role	Description	Requirements
Resident Notification Volunteer	Hand delivering notices to approx. 350 residents.	None
Set Up Assistant (Friday 9th August)	Competition & Community Marquee table setup	Physically able for possible heavy lifting, reaching and carrying.
Take Down Assistant (Monday 12th August)	Practical Tasks	Physically able for heavy lifting.

Saturday 9 August

Volunteer Role	Description	Requirements
Show Runner	Variety of tasks to ensure Saturday Judging runs smoothly	Physically able to be moving around the Show on foot for periods of time.
Photographer	Liaise with Committee to capture the judging within the Craft Marquee as a record of the day and to be used for promotional purposes.	Need own camera.
Marquee Receptionist	Greeting exhibitors and handing out exhibitor cards; Answering questions.	None
Steward	Directing exhibitors and stall holders on and off site.	Physically able to stand for periods of time.
Judges Assistant (Marquee)	Supporting each judge and writing comment cards.	Legible handwriting.
Marquee Assistant	Troubleshooting during staging; Arranging certificates and medals.	Physically able for possible heavy lifting.

Sunday 10 August

Volunteer Role	Description	Requirements
Photographer	Liaise with Committee to capture Show throughout the day including judging, stallholders, exhibitors, entertainers and crowds as a record of the day and to be used for promotional purposes.	Need own camera.
Show Runner	Variety of tasks to ensure Show day runs smoothly.	Physically able to be moving around the Show on foot for periods of time.
Marquee Receptionist	Greeting exhibitors and handing out exhibitor cards; Answering questions.	None.
Steward	Directing exhibitors and stall holders on and off site.	Physically able to stand for periods of time.
Marquee Security Steward	Working with Marquee staff to ensure security of exhibits.	Physically able to stand for periods of time and move quickly if needed.
Marquee Assistant	Troubleshooting during staging.	Physically able for possible heavy lifting.
