Would you like to Volunteer towards The Worcester Show?

Do you enjoy being creative? Would you like to be involved in the preparations prior to The Worcester Show? We have a range of volunteering opportunities to suit all interests, in skills and experiences. We’d love to see the community adding a personal touch to the event, for example ; painted signs using reclaimed wood, flags, artistic touches. See below for the list of volunteer opportunities followed by the Volunteer Form below. We’d love to see you get involved.

General Information

Volunteers will be provided with drinks, snacks and regular breaks
Roles requiring someone in post for the whole day will be broken into shifts
All volunteers will be expected to meet the volunteer coordinator for a brief site orientation, and general introduction before they undertake their role.

Volunteer Task Groups

Join one of the established task groups of the Worcester Show Team to contribute towards planning and delivery of a task area:

Task Group Name	Tasks
Main Stage	Book and liaise with bands, organise tech, plan and deliver the main stage.
Sports Zone	Help with delivery of the Sports Zone on Show Day
Competition Marquee	Plan the competition classes, find sponsorship for competition classes, manage the sponsors, competition admin, help run the marquees on Show Day
Site Build Team	During the weeks leading up to the Show, physical work, line marking, moving equipment, building site infrastructure etc.
Find It Do It Community Marquee	A Community space, designed, planned and delivered by the community. Anything goes! Help shape next year’s marquee.
Health & Wellbeing	This task group delivered the Village Games in 2023 and have a wide-reaching remit to champion health and wellbeing activities.
Craft Group	Join this group to help create décor for the Show and have a laugh! All skill levels welcome.
Environment, Sustainability & Active Travel	This task group aims to reduce travel to the Show by vehicle, and ensure the Show is sustainable and not detrimental to the environment.
Sponsorship	Help us find sponsors and ensure agreements are met.
Promotion	This includes social media, programme design and printing, banners, posters, radio interviews etc.
Admin	Do you love admin? Could you help with stallholder bookings or exhibitor entries? Step this way!!

From 1 August

Volunteer Role	Description	Requirements
Resident Notification Volunteer	Hand delivering notices to approx. 350 residents.	None
Signage Volunteer	Erecting temporary notices in the park and car park	None
Set Up Assistant (Thursday 8th August)	Marking out the site; Moving equipment; Erecting gazebos.	Physically able for heavy lifting.
Set Up Assistant (Friday 9th August)	Craft and Floral Marquee table setup; Parking cones setup; Photo boards setup; Cycle compound setup; Temporary barriers setup; Market Street setup.	Physically able for possible heavy lifting, reaching and carrying.
Take Down Assistant (Monday 12th August)	Dismantling gazebos; Loading vans; Moving fencing and bins.	Physically able for heavy lifting.

Saturday 10 August

Volunteer Role	Description	Requirements
Show Runner	Variety of tasks to ensure Saturday Judging runs smoothly	Physically able to be moving around the Show on foot for periods of time.
Photographer	Liaise with Committee to capture the judging within the Craft Marquee as a record of the day and to be used for promotional purposes.	Competent DSLR user; Need own DSLR camera.
Marquee Receptionist	Greeting exhibitors and handing out exhibitor cards; Answering questions.	None
Steward	Directing exhibitors and stall holders on and off site.	Physically able to stand for periods of time.
Judges Assistant (Marquee)	Supporting each judge and writing comment cards.	Legible handwriting.
Marquee Assistant	Troubleshooting during staging; Arranging certificates and medals.	Physically able for possible heavy lifting.

Sunday 11 August

Volunteer Role	Description	Requirements
Photographer	Liaise with Committee to capture Show throughout the day including judging, stallholders, exhibitors, entertainers and crowds as a record of the day and to be used for promotional purposes.	Competent DSLR user; Need own DSLR camera.
Show Runner	Variety of tasks to ensure Show day runs smoothly.	Physically able to be moving around the Show on foot for periods of time.
Marquee Receptionist	Greeting exhibitors and handing out exhibitor cards; Answering questions.	None.
Steward	Directing exhibitors and stall holders on and off site.	Physically able to stand for periods of time.
Marquee Security Steward	Working with Marquee staff to ensure security of exhibits.	Physically able to stand for periods of time and move quickly if needed.
Marquee Assistant	Troubleshooting during staging.	Physically able for possible heavy lifting.
