About the Worcester Show
The Worcester Show is an annual event now in its 14th year, attracting over 10,000 visitors. The Show centres around the two exhibition marquees, encouraging local residents to enter exhibits with 140 classes to choose from ranging from Floral, Fruit and Veg to Handicrafts and Photography. As last year, the Craft Marquee will be judged on Saturday 10 August. This will mean that the Craft marquee will be open to the public from 10am on the Sunday, whilst the Floral/Veg marquee will be judged and formally open from 1pm by the Mayor of Worcester. Trophy presentation occurs mid afternoon.
Entertainment for visitors comprises of a music stage with live performances from local bands; a Gardeners Question Time led by BBC Hereford and Worcestershire presenters Reg Moule and Mike George; and talks from local groups. The Show is split into four zones comprising of the following:-
- Children’s Zone – Fairground and craft activities
- Sports Zone – Demonstrations and ‘have a go’ sessions representative of almost all of Worcester’s local sporting clubs
- Market Street Zone – Local handicrafts for sale
- Community Zone –Local charity stalls and community groups promoting their causes
In addition to the Pump House Café there is also a range of catering covering a variety of different cuisines. Barbourne Cider manage a beer tent next to the music stage, whilst tea, coffee etc is provided by numerous outlets throughout the park.
The Worcester Show attracts a wider variety of visitors from across the City hence the audience profile is varied. The traditional ‘flower show’ aspect of the Show generally attracts an older audience, though through new Under-18s and Novice Classes we are seeking a more balanced age profile. However live music, children’s entertainment and local sports club demonstrations have attracted a large family audience.
